Stereolithography (SLA)
Precision 3D Printing for Detailed Resin Parts
Stereolithography (SLA) uses advanced 3D printing technology to produce high-resolution, detailed resin parts, making it ideal for applications that require fine features, smooth surfaces, and high accuracy.

How Stereolithography works
Stereolithography (SLA) is a 3D printing process that uses a laser to cure and solidify layers of photopolymer resin, building parts layer by layer. The process starts with a digital 3D model, which is sliced into thin layers. A laser selectively cures the resin in a vat, following the shape of each layer in the model. After one layer is cured, the build platform lowers, and a new layer of liquid resin is spread across the surface. This process repeats until the entire part is complete. The result is a highly detailed and precise part with smooth surfaces, ideal for intricate designs and prototypes.

Benefits of SLA
High Precision:
SLA excels at producing parts with intricate details and tight tolerances, making it ideal for applications requiring extreme accuracy.
Smooth Surface Finish:
SLA naturally creates parts with exceptionally smooth surfaces, reducing the need for extensive post-processing and ideal for cosmetic prototypes or parts needing minimal finishing.
Fine Channels and Features:
SLA is capable of producing very fine channels and delicate features, perfect for designs with complex internal geometries or small, detailed parts.
Cost-Effective for Large Quantities:
SLA becomes increasingly cost-effective when producing larger quantities of parts, especially for small to medium-sized components, due to its efficient use of materials and quick turnaround times.

Design Guidelines for Stereolithography
- Max size: 780 x 780 x530 mm
- Tolerance: ±0.3mm (Within 100mm), ±0.4% (Above 100mm)
- Wall Thickness: Minimum wall thickness should be at least 0.8 mm to ensure part strength and durability.
- Supports: SLA parts often require support structures for overhangs and complex geometries. These supports are removed during post-processing.
- Detail Resolution: SLA can achieve very high resolution, with layer heights as small as 25 microns. Ensure your design takes advantage of this precision for fine details.
- Orientation: The orientation of the part on the build platform can affect surface finish and strength. Consider how different orientations might impact the final product.
- Hollow Parts: Hollowing out parts can reduce material usage and weight, but make sure to include escape holes for the uncured resin.
